Awesome Miner now supports changing the payout cryptocurrency when ‘managed profit switching’ on Zpool, AHashPool, and Hash Refinery. This guide sets out how to set the Awesome Miner payout cryptocurrency in short, simple steps.
MiningPoolHub is slightly different, as you can simply register for an account on their website and change the payout currency by modifying your auto-exchange settings. This avoids the need to peform any of the configuration described here, but also tends to offer lower returns than other pools. As I understand it, recently hacked Nicehash only support BTC payouts at present.
Typically, these mining pools will default to paying out in Bitcoin, however, many now wish to use an alternative coin to spread their investments, or simply avoid the massive Bitcoin fees and transaction processing times.
It’s always been possible to set the Awesome Miner payout currency by appending the command sent to the mining software with a
However, in the last few days an update has brought native support in Awesome Miner to change the payout currency in a matter of seconds.
How to change Awesome Miner payout to Litecoin etc
Step 1: Awesome Miner options
Open the ‘Options’ panel from the main Awesome Miner interface.
On the left hand side, select ‘Profit Switching’, as shown by arrow 1. Next, make sure the ‘Select BTC payout’ box is NOT checked, as shown by arrow 2 above. Finally, as shown by arrow 3, make sure to change your wallet address to a wallet of your preferred payout currency. This goes in the ‘Bitcoin address’ boxes, despite being an alternative cryptocurrency.
Make sure to click OK to save your new configuration.
Step 2: Specific Miner Properties
Right-click on your miner from the main Awesome Miner interface, then open the ‘Properties’
From the ‘Properties’ dialog box, select ‘Command Line’ from the left side navigation. From this screen, you can modify the parameters that will be passed to the mining software by Awesome Miner. Simply add -p followed by C=LTC as shown below, or in the screenshot above.
As you might well assume, this sets the payout currency to Litecoin, often abbreviated to LTC. You can substitute LTC for the shortcode of any currency you’d prefer to be paid in, such as XMR for Monero or ETH for Ethereum.
Click OK to save your new parameters. Either start or restart your chosen miner to commence mining in your chosen cyrptocurrency.
Step 3: Verify your Awesome Miner payout configuration
Access your wallet page on your chosen mining pool, and verify that it has correcly identified your chosen payout currency. The screenshot above shows Zpool confirming we have correctly configured LTC payouts!
Remember, many pools including Zpool will only pay out when holding a sufficient reserve of your selected coin. Selecting an obscure altcoin may result in never receiving a payout. I’d recommend sticking to only the most popular altcoins, such as LTC / Litecoin.
If you must be paid by an obscure coin, I’d recommend using MiningPoolHub, as rather than relying on your chosen coin being mined for a payout, all mined coins are passed to an external exchanger for ‘auto-exchange’ into your chosen cryptocurrency.
